Foster youth needs

Foster youth are challenged by not having the support needed as they transition into adulthood.  Some of their needs include:

  1. grocery store gift cards
  2. Walmart or Target gift cards
  3. bedding that is BRAND NEW!!
  4. pots and pans
  5. towels
  6. hygiene products
  7. cleaning supplies
  8. blankets
  9. alarm clock
  10. plates
  11. glasses
  12. silver wear
  13. basic food shopping (this includes taking the foster kid out and shopping with them)
  14. books for college and other supplies
  15. back packs

Other needs include:

  1. bike to transport to work and visits with family
  2. special needs hair stylist for African American hair.  This is a big need that goes over looked often.
  3. Calligraphy Set
  4. Art classes
  5. Community sports at the local recreation center that cost money to join
  6. Interview outfits
  7. Community summer camps
  8. Graduation items: year books, prom, senior pictures
  9. Book fines for kids that loose then so they can graduation
  10. medical needs not covered by medical insurance
  11. cribs
  12. school items for foster kids who are placed back home or with a relative that have limited finances
